The 109th Exhibition of the Japan Art Institute
Date: Sat, October 5 – Sun, 27, 2024
The Japan Art Institute (Inten) was established in 1898, based on the ideals of Okakura Tenshin, who preached the creation of a new Japanese painting style. After his death, Yokoyama Taikan re-organized the institute in 1914, taking over Tenshin’s desires. Since then, Inten has played a great role in the innovation of modern Japanese paintings. This exhibition will display about 90 works that are fresh and full of originality, mainly by Inten regular members who have taken over the institute’s tradition and history.
